The care and Keeping of an Izzie
So I have mentioned Izzie in quite a few of my blog post, so I decided to post a care sheet for an Izzie enjoy:
1.What is an Izzie?
An Izzie is a fox like creature that is found in the far reaches of Zone 76, (cold desert areas) so they are very rare to come across. Consider yourself lucky if you have found an Izzie.
2.What does an Izzie look like?
Generally they are about 5'6" tall with red hair. It can change color based on the season, and it can also been seen in colors such as black, white, blue, and pink. Don't be alarmed if your Izzie changes colors rapidly. Izzies have also been seen with fox ears and tail, typically orange with white tips.
3.When is an Izzie most active?
Izzies would prefer to sleep until about noon and can get quite cranky if woken up before the sun rises. However it is an active social creature in the late afternoon.
4.Habitat
Izzies are most comfortable in warm, colorful , dry surroundings with lots of things to draw with and on, along with internet access . As I've said they are quite social creatures (when they want to be) and hate being alone, so try to keep them company as much as possible. Izzies do not enjoy the snow; they like to look at it and think its pretty, but touching it is a big no.
5.What does an Izzie eat?
Good- Note: All the following are best kept out of reach of the Izzie if intended for other uses. They will eat anything on this list!
Meat: Anything from beef, poultry, venison, etc.
Seafood: Loves calamari, shrimp and local fish such as rainbow trout.
Veggies: Squash is a must along with potatoes, lots of mushrooms, pumpkin anything, leafy greens, garlic, etc.
Fruits: Raspberries are a favorite treat. Bananas are okay on occasion.
Sugar: Best in small amounts. Caffeine is a must or the Izzie will become easily irritated and is liable to lash out.
Bad- Note: The following are the things that an Izzie CAN NOT EAT under any circumstance.
Oranges, Grapefruit, mainly very citriusy things though Lemons are Okay in small doses, Tilapia (a type of fish), strawberries, peaches, mostly fruits and excess salt.
Things an Izzie just won't eat:
Most Mexican food, Chinese food, yams or sweet potatoes, onions, stroganoff, anything with too much butter, grease or an excess of melted cheese.
6.Temperament?
Izzies are usually loud, friendly animals. However, they do like to get a rise out of people. Given the opportunity, they will do anything in their power to make life difficult for you. There are also times when the Izzie will get upset or stressed and will get disgruntled and vocal. But due to their relatively good nature, that time will pass and they will be a great companion again. Izzies are very protective and territorial, and do not like strangers entering their domain. Be prepared to be critiqued, poked and prodded at until the Izzie decides if whether you are welcome or not.
7. Should I walk an Izzie?
Izzies do not especially like exercise, but on occasion if they are in a good enough mood, you can get them to go for a walk, especially in the desert or wooded areas. Their favorite thing is a long car ride, and random adventures in bizarre or new places.
8. Grooming?
Izzies they are very clean creatures, leave them be and they can take care of the mess themselves. They bathe frequently and should have access to a clean sterile bathroom with running water. Do not be surprised if you have to buy shampoo frequently; Izzies go about washing their hair in a particular pattern such as: shampoo, rinse, color shampoo, rinse, bleach shampoo, rinse, extra moisturizing conditioner, rinse, then about half a can of Got2Be Glued hairspray to form the "indestructa-hawk".
9. Past time for an Izzie?
Drawing: you will be required to provide sketch books, pencils, pens markers, colored pencils, computer, tablet and Photoshop-like programs. Prepare to have plenty of gift art given in return!
History: anything historical will attract an Izzie, and they won't hesitate to dig their claws into it.
TV: Izzies find this to be a very entertaining way to past the time, and enjoy shows on the History, Discovery, NatGeo, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, and occasionally Nickelodeon channels. They also very much enjoy crime drama such as Bones, and real life crime such as America's Most Wanted.
The Internet: A place where the Izzie finds a comfortable corner of which to share their thoughts and ideas.
10.Will my Izzie get along with my other pets?
Of course! Izzies love all the animals! They hate to see any kind of cruelty done to any of them in any form, and those they find committing such acts will be stricken down. The Izzies favorite companion animal is a Norwegian hooded roof rat (aka Fancy rat).
Well there you go! If you follow these guidelines you should be able to maintain a happy fluffy companion!

You are an Izzie expert! After caring for an Izzie for 18 years, the last 5 of which I could not have survived without your valued input, I would highly recommend an Izzie. However, Izzies are very special and great care should be taken when deciding who is best suited to have an Izzie in their home. If you are lucky enough to acquire an Izzie I promise you will never regret it. Izzies are FULL of life and very sweet (when they want to be). They are also a constant source of entertainment. They are very cuddly and huggable and when they giggle, which is often, it melts your heart. I have given over the care of my Izzie into your capable hands. I know you will take very good care of her. Just bring her back every now and then so I can get my Izzie refill. ♥
