Zagat in his old cage (my favorite pic of him) |

His favorite spot to sit |
Once
upon a time (around when I turned fifteen), my friend got a ball python and
Izzie got a rat. I decided it was time that I got an exotic pet myself. At
first I got a Chinese water dragon, but he died the next day, so I took him back
to the pet store that I got him from and they gave me another one for free. I
kept that one for about two weeks but he stopped eating and eventually died
too. After a bit of research we found out my water dragons kept dying because I
couldn’t keep its cage humid enough. I went back to the store and told them
what happened, and they gave me my money back.
My friends and I were walking though the store
looking at the animals when we found a tank full of baby iguanas. I thought
they were adorable and I wanted one, but I was scared to get one after my water
dragons. After watching them run around and much poking and prodding by Bambi,
I finally caved and decided to get one.
The
one I chose was one that was running back and forth along the side of the tank
chasing a cricket that was in the cage next to the one they were in. I decided
to name him Zagat. I took him home, set up his stuff and watched him grow from
a tiny thing that could wrap around your thumb into a three foot long beast.
When he was about two years old he outgrew his cage, and my uncle Shane bought
me a huge six foot tall terrarium for him.

Zagat on the couch in Vernal |
He
began getting sick right before we moved from Vernal, and quickly went downhill
before we could afford to get him to the vet. This morning I was informed by my
brother that he had died at some point last night. He was five years old, and I
miss him terribly. R.I.P Zagat.
